Kata

Kata ā When precision becomes audible.
Kata is a fixed sequence of movements in karate that combines defensive and offensive techniques in a predetermined order. It represents a stylized fight against imaginary opponents and trains technique, rhythm, timing, and precision. The forms range from short sequences to complex sequences with over 60 elements. The karate suit (gi) plays a special role here. Its high cotton content ensures freedom of movement and supports the body during dynamic techniques. At the same time, it enhances fast movements with its typical āsnap effectā: the sharp crackling of the fabric is considered an audible signal for speed, control, and accuracy ā and makes a successful kata unmistakable.
