Taekwon-Do
Taekwon-Do - a martial arts rediscovered.
Probably the oldest form of Taekwon-Do is Taekyon. Wall paintings of this martial art were discovered, which date back to 50 BC. In 1955, the sport of the Korean General Major a. D. Choi Hong Hi rediscovered and reinterpreted. An essential difference to karate is in the less deep position of the fighter. Furthermore lives Taekwon-Do, short TKD, of a lot of footwork. Nevertheless, this martial art can be practiced by athletes of all ages, special knowledge is not necessary. In most courses, the different levels of performance also work together, as the techniques (hyongs) of the individual movements can be performed in different levels of difficulty. In addition to the exercise, there are also the so-called step fights - the fight with partners. The exercises are not executed with full force against the opponents but stopped. This requires body control, distance, and precision. As certificate of achievement for every taekwondoin, the colored belts (Ty) above the tracksuit (Dobok) are used, as like in karate.
