WKF - an umbrella organization with big goals.

Being there is everything - the Olympic idea of the WKF. With around 10 million members in 188 countries, the WKF - World Map Federation - is acting as an umbrella organization for all karatekas. Its founding date back to 1993, when WKO (World Union of Karate-Do Organizations) and ITKF (International Traditional Karate Federation) merged to form today's WKF.

Every 2 years, the umbrella organization organizes the Karate World Championships and supports the athletes with innovations - the main focus is always on increasing safety. But of course you are looking for more - you are looking for Olympia. The highest award of any sport is the inclusion by the IOC (International Olympic Committee). In Tokyo 2020, Karate is represented by the WKF and can present itself to the world among 33 different sports and over 51 disciplines.

Always stay on the mat.

This is what the Karatekas are supposed to do in training as well as in competition on the WKF-tested "Tatami" foam mats. These provide a secure footing especially for the KATA and thus help to execute exact and precise fighting movements. Due to the simple "puzzle system", the mats fit together almost seamlessly, resulting in a perfect overall picture, which can be varied in size and shape at any time. In the KUMITE, the WKF Tatami sports floor protects the athlete from injuries caused by unforeseen falls. The surface is particularly slipped resistant and refined with the WKF approved label.

WKF Chestguard "Maxi" for women.

Well packaged women power. With the chest protector "Maxi", which is also WKF tested, we also offer the best protection to the growing proportion of women in martial arts disciplines. We consciously set a two-part solution. In the sporty top of the anatomically shaped hard shellis inserted - thus the protection adapts perfectly to the athlete. Your freedom of movement is not limited in any way by the protector of Hayashi. The risks without chest protection, e.g. in Kumite, Randori, competition but also in sparring, are manifold and extremely painful. The injuries range from internal hematomas, scarring of the nipples to severe injuries of the delicate glandular tissue. But the advantage of the two-part WKF solution lies in its simplicity - you can wear the top even without insert and use only when needed, the hard shell.

Maxi

WKF face mask.

You always keep the perspective. The official face maskof the WKF is made of a particularly impact-resistant material- the polycarbonate. This special thermoplastic material is extremely robust against blunt violence and also has good transparency and low weight. These features make it indispensable not only in sports. Other industries, such as the automotive industry or medicine, appreciate the "all-rounder" among plastics.

But what exactly does the WKF face mask protect? You will not find glasses like a pair of glasses. Yet, just like glasses, it protects your eyes exactly. Since the eye itself has no majorprotective mechanisms, it is protected by the eye socket, the region of the frontal bone, cheekbone and upper jawbone. Just above this area runs the transparent WKF face mask. The temple region is also perfectly covered. Hits there are particularly dangerous and have a high physical impact. It ranges from nausea and respiratory disorders to at worst to unconsciousness and loss of memory. The unintentional slippage of the mask is prevented by strong Velcro.

WKF Budo belt (with WKF label)

Budo belt - more than just an accessory. The WKF tested budo belts are made of durable and shiny polyester - satin. This makes them particularly cuddly and easy to care for. The different colors in the Budosport show the level of knowledge of the individual athlete and range from the student grades (Kyu) to the master grades (Dan). So while you can not choose the color that way, the length of your belt usually gives you multiple choices. In principle, you should calculate the length of your belt as follows: Take 2x your hip circumference and then reckon another 40 cm. You need this because the belt after the knot on each side should still survive about 20 cm. If you choose your belt too long, you give your opponent more attack surface. If you choose it too short, the knot will relax all the time.

Hayashi Budogürtel (mit WKF-Label)

The world is connected by colors.

Just as the colored budo belts prove their expressiveness in martial arts, so too will 2020, the Olympic rings that welcome the world to fair and exciting games. Its 6 colors correspond to those of all national flags of today's world. In 1920 - exactly 100 years ago, the now legendary flag was used for the first time. Participation in the Olympics was a major objective of the WKF in recent years. The great commitment to present karate to the world as an Olympic discipline is finally rewarded. The competitions will be held in the KUMITE and KATA styles and, of course, will also be supervised by the WKF in Tokyo.
