What Taekwon-Do really means.

Three syllables stand for your sport. TAE means to jump & kick. KWON symbolizes the hand techniques and means something like a fist. DO describes the path you take and is intended to reflect the character of Korean martial arts. Unarmed martial arts are divided into different disciplines, ranging from elementary school (Gibon Yeonseup) to breaking test exercises (Gyeokpa) to competition (Chayu Matsogi). The aim of Taekwon-Do is the continuous development of the athletes in their personality and the promotion of physical health.
