Makiwara

Your teacher for precise striking technique—Makiwara.

It doesn’t get any more effective than this. When training with a Makiwara, you must focus 100% of your concentration on the technique. The board, with its sturdy Padding, doesn’t forgive mistakes. Even the slightest imperfections in execution will be painfully felt. The more often you incorporate the Makiwara into your training, the faster you’ll notice an improvement in your performance. Iron Palm techniques, edge strikes, and finger strikes will quickly toughen up your fists—a huge advantage in close combat.

Always maintain your distance.

Your Makiwara never backs down. Firmly anchored to your wall, it stands like a rock in the surf and withstands your attacks day after day. Its immobility, in particular, trains your sense of distance and gives you entirely new possibilities for applying your striking techniques. Since training on the makiwara is done individually, you can tailor your focus to your specific needs and thus bring out the best in yourself.

Makiwara—from a straw roll to a piece of interior decor.

With its unique dragon print on the rough canvas punch pads, the Makiwara is a sight to behold. Artistic and imbued with Japanese flair, the training board blends harmoniously into any room’s decor. Only the name recalls the simple straw rolls of the past—Maki = to roll up; Wara = straw.
