Shoto made of hardwood (ca. 56 cm)
Out of stock
Our hardwood Shoto is a simplified representation of the Wakizashi, the small sword that is one of the three swords of the samurai. While in the past all weapons such as the katana had to be discarded when entering buildings, the small Shoto sword could be carried concealed by the belt. The short sword is made in the traditional length of 1 to 2 shaku and is used in close combat training. Due to the naturalness of the material used, there may be slight weight fluctuations, but this does not affect the functionality of your training weapon. For a long service life of wooden weapons, dry and temperature-controlled storage is recommended.
Additional advantages:
- traditional length
- sturdy hardwood construction
- protective coating
- elegant grain

Description / Shoto made of hardwood (ca. 56 cm)
Looking back on a long history: Shoto.
In the past, the Wakizashi or Shoto belonged to the trio of samurai swords. In its brief form, it could be carried concealed and was one of the most effective hand-to-hand combat weapons. Our replica made of wood is adapted to the original in shape and length. This allows you to recreate various melee scenes and perform forms with medium contact without danger.
Hardwood shows its strength, not only in the sports sector.
For the requirements of martial arts, the material must be unbreakable and as splinter-free as possible. However, these qualities are also urgently needed in other areas. The material shows its strengths in shipbuilding and house building, as well as in interior design and furniture production. When using natural raw materials, slight deviations in weight and shape are not a mistake, but a sign of quality. The fine wood grain of our Shoto comes into its own thanks to the protective coating.
Care tips extend the life of your wooden weapons.
To preserve your wooden weapons for as long as possible, care and storage are important in addition to professional handling. Wood needs a dry and constant temperature environment. A drafty attic or a damp basement room are therefore less suitable as storage space. Despite the high-quality standards in the manufacturing process, wooden weapons must be checked for damage before and after use to avoid serious injuries from splinters or breakage.
The strength of your wooden Shoto sword lies in close combat. Get the traditional training weapon now directly from the Budoland online shop.
